Therapeutic Approaches

People have different motivating factors that compel them to undertake the process of therapy. Some people seek out self-knowledge; coping skills; help with navigating relationships; decreasing low mood and anxiety, or any number of other issues, and others  may be unsure as to what they hope to achieve through therapy. There are as many goals and motivating factors as there are clients.

My role is to try to understand my clients and their needs and help them achieve these goals through increasing their self-knowledge and awareness of their patterns. My therapeutic philosophy embraces a client-centered approach, which is grounded in a psychodynamic framework. This means that special emphasis is placed on nurturing an interpersonal therapeutic relationship with clients. This relationship serves as the foundation for my work with clients.

I nurture this relationship  by creating an inviting atmosphere that provides clients a safe place to navigate through their emotions, thoughts and behaviours, in a judgement free and compassionate zone of care.

In addition, clients often look for practical tools to help them cope with more specific life challenges. My goal, in these situations, is to work with clients to come up with personalized, effective and creative techniques that clients can utilize to help them through their struggles.
